Testifying Before Congress on Evidence-Based Recommendations for Permit Reform

The Law and Policy Program of the Wallace Stegner Center within the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah aims to produce actionable, pragmatic research on emerging legal issues to facilitate sound governmental decisionmaking that protects the environment and promotes a just and democratic society.

On May 11, 2023, I had an opportunity to represent that group and share some of our research on permitting with the House Natural Resources Committee, Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

It was an honor to be invited by Rep. Grijalva and Rep. Stansbury to testify before Congress on aspects of our research that are directly relevant to permit reform.

You can watch the testimony here.

You can read the written testimony here.

Following the hearing, the Democrats issued a press release about the hearing, which can be read here.
